Through co-founding the Girls in Science and Technology (GIST) club at a Los Angeles middle school in 2016, I found my love for outreach. Still thriving today, graduate students meet with 35 girls twice a month and complete hands-on activities. Each month focuses on exposing the students to different fields of STEM. I am former President and Outreach Coordinator for the CSUN Women in Science Club. As a club we organized STEM career panels, presented at career days, judged science fairs, and assisted in classroom labs.
These volunteer activities motivated me to shift from a research career to a career in STEM education where I can share my love of science with students. Please contact me if you are interested in reaching your community; I am more than happy to provide advice and resources.
